Jim Chalmers

Who is he?

Jim Chalmers, author of the recently released book, Auriculotherapy, Ear Acupuncture, The Practitioner’s Guide has over 25 years clinical experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine specialising in Auriculotherapy and Acupuncture.

He graduated in Brisbane Australia 1988 and undertook postgraduate training in Nanning China in 1991. He joined the board of the Australian Acupuncture Association (now called the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association, AACMA) in the early 90’s and held the position of Chair of the Standing Committee for Continuing Professional Development and in 1998 became Vice President of the Association*. In 1998 he represented AACMA as head of a delegation to China at the invitation of the Zhejiang TCM Bureau to help establish academic exchanges between Zhejiang and Australia.

Since 2007 Jim has taken an active role in promoting continuing professional education by sharing his experiences gained from studying and integrating with TCM, the advanced form of Auriculotherapy discovered and developed by the French Physician, Dr. Paul Nogier. He has been a keynote speaker at AACMA’s National Conferences, invited speaker at the 7th International Symposium on Auriculotherapy in Lyon France. He continues to run training seminars in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the UK.

Where is he?

Jim continues to practice in rural Scotland at the Crossmichael Therapy Centre, Crossmichael, Castle Douglas. (Ph. 01556670023)  He has a special interest in the Auriculotherapy treatment of PTSD and has developed a patient-specific protocol for this condition.
In his practice, Jim utilises advanced Auriculotherapy protocols and TCM – integrating these two powerful modalities when appropriate.

What is he doing now?

Jim presents specialised Auriculotherapy training seminars for acupuncture practitioners, taking them beyond formula treatments and sharing techniques to develop patient-specific protocols that promote successful clinical outcomes.  These are offered throughout the UK, in Greece, Australia and New Zealand.  

Jim’s book, Auriculotherapy, Ear Acupuncture The Practitioner’s Guide, is the first book in English to provide a step-by step guide to the practices and procedures taught by Dr. Paul Nogier and integrating important aspects of TCM.
